The Supreme Court bench headed by CJI Dipak Misra on April 10 (Tuesday) passed an order not to obstruct the release of the film Nanak Shah Fakir in the movie halls.
The bench issued notice to the respondents to see to it that wherever the film is released, law and order is maintained and no one is allowed to disturb the peace. The petitioner is at the liberty to communicate the order via email to other respondents, the bench said.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) had set up an eight-member sub-committee to review the film. On April 7, the SGPV had approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has asked him to stop the release of this movie.
The matter has been adjourned to May 8, 2018.
