Delhi HC issues notice asking whether “Gumti of Shaikh Ali” is a national monument or not

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday (April 24) issued notice to Archeological Survey of India (ASI), Centre, Defence Colony Welfare Association and GNCTD  on the plea related to the alleged arbitrary and illegal decision of ASI to not to complete the process of notifying the ancient monument of Gumti of Shaikh Ali situated at Defence Colony, New Delhi.

The bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar listed the matter for next hearing to July 23, 2018.

The plea alleges that the records pertaining to “Shaikh Ali Gumti” in Defence Colony especially the proposal to declare the same to be a monument of national importance are available with the ASI and other respondents.
