Delhi HC orders JNU not to take any coercive steps against Kanhaiya Kumar till next hearing

A Delhi High Court division bench of Justices S Ravindra Bhatt and Sunil Gaur on Friday (May 18) set aside the Election Commission’s (EC) order which disqualified Narrotam Mishra, BJP minister in Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly filling wrong accounts in his election expenditure relating to articles and advertisement in the media. The court said that there is not enough evidence to prove the allegations.

The EC had barred him from contesting elections and had disqualified him for three years from contesting elections after finding him guilty of paid news.

Mishra had challenged his disqualification at the high court.

At the last hearing on July 28, 2017 the Supreme Court had stayed the EC order disqualifying him for three years from contesting elections. The top court had said that the high court should resolve the matter expeditiously.
