Delhi HC issues notice to DGCA on overworked crew in commercial airlines

Reacting to a PIL filed by Social Jurist seeking implementation of the seventh pay commission recommendations on two lakh teaching and non teaching staff working in over 2,000 unaided private schools of Delhi, the chief justice bench of the Delhi High Court on Monday (May 21) issued notices to the Delhi government, the MCDs and the Unaided Schools Association.

The court has directed the authorities to file status report in six weeks on what steps have been taken by them to implement seventh pay commission recommendations in unaided, recognised private schools.

“Both authorities and schools are not interested in implementation of the seventh pay commission recommendations, despite it being their duty to do so. Employees are being exploited by schools and government is silent,” argued advocate Agarwal, appearing for the petitioner Social Jurist.

Advocate Ramesh Singh, appearing for the Delhi government submitted that teachers should have complained to the government. At this Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal said: “Why do the teachers need to make complaint? What are you were regarding the implementation of the commission recommendation? It is your duty to ensure implementation.”

Next date of hearing is September 25.
