Delhi HC orders JNU not to take any coercive steps against Kanhaiya Kumar till next hearing

The Delhi government on Friday (June 1) asked the Delhi High Court bench comprising of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar to permit it to procure cluster buses that are not disabled friendly.

To which the bench told the Delhi government to submit details about the cluster buses while also stating the reasons why the court should give relief to the government to purchase such buses.

During today’s hearing, the petitioner said that the Delhi government still has not complied with the Supreme Court 2016 directions to all states and union territories categorically saying that there should be a minimum of 10 per cent disabled-friendly buses on the roads. And all the buses should be made disabled-friendly by 2018.

Earlier, the petitioner had highlighted the fact that Delhi Government issued tender to procure non-disabled friendly buses, contravening Supreme Court 2016 directions and on the earlier hearing Delhi HC had refused to clear tender for cluster buses on the same grounds that it contravened Supreme Court 2016 directions.
