Unitech case: Rs 21 crore deposited to be disbursed to home buyers, says SC

In the Unitech case, the Supreme Court bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud on Friday (July 27) directed that the amicus would be responsible for carrying out a number of duties. Also deposited monies will be disbursed to cheated home buyers.

According to the court these duties included ascertaining the correct addresses of LIC and Noida Development Authority and also dealing with the home buyers who are still interested in taking flats.

Today, the senior counsel for petitioner Arvind Kumar Gupta suggested that the money should be disbursed according to the claimants in existence.

In accordance with the previous order, certain amount has been handed over to the amicus and will be drafted and deposited in the registry.

The status report will have to be filed by the petitioners.

Amount lying and deposited to be disbursed among the home buyers who are registered. Rs 21 crores have already been given by the promoters.
