A petition seeking inclusion of male acid attack victims for compensation was heard in the apex court on Friday (July 27).
Petitioner Anuja Kapoor told the bench of CJI Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud that under the scheme (which gives compensation to women acid attack victims) male acid attack victims have been excluded.
“Male acid attack victims neither get compensation nor get medical treatment,” the petitioner informed.
The petition said that from January 1, 2018, till date, 18 acid attack incidents have been reported and in these incidents, three males were also attacked.
The bench tagged the plea with the main petition.
