The Delhi High Court on Tuesday (Sep 11) told New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) to grant admission to Rohit Kumar and Sachin Kumar in Navyug School in classes 6th and 8th respectively and permit them to attend classes.
The order came on the plea filed Rohit Kumar and Sachin Kumar who had challenged their denial of admission in Navyug School by NDMC on the grounds that these students where residing outside NDMC area.
The single judge bench of Justice Siddarth Mridul quashed “NDMC circular” which prohibited a child from admission in Navyug schools if not residing in NDMC area as discriminatory, arbitrary and violative of Article 14 of the constitution.
In the plea, the students said Navyug School had denied them admission on the ground that they could not produce residence proof of NDMC area.
