The CJI Ranjan Gogoi on Thursday cautioned advocates not to mention matters unnecessarily.

We are trying to evolve the system in such a way that there are no deletions and delay. We have repeatedly requested members of the bar not to mention matters unnecessarily, said CJI Gogoi.

“Mentioning of matters is a privilege to the bar, if such non-urgent matters are being mentioned; the bar might lose this privilege. Do you want your privileges to go away?” CJI Gogoi added.

It is to be noted that CJI Gogoi after taking charge as the Chief Justice of India had disallowed urgent mentioning of cases.

“Unless someone is going to be hanged today or evicted out of his house, no other matter can be mentioned for urgent hearing,” CJI Gogoi had said.
