British High Commission Gets Consular Access To Middleman Christian Michel

The British High Commission in India on Friday got consular access to Christian Michel, the alleged middleman in AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal case. The letter for consular access was sent by the British Commission to Centre last evening.

Stating the details of consular access of the British national, the High Commission said, “Our staffs are supporting a British man who is detained in India, and have visited him to check his welfare.” Though not much has been revealed about the minutes of consular access as of yet, but it is a sigh of relief for the Briton.

Meanwhile, Michel has moved a Delhi court on Thursday seeking permission to make calls to his family members and his lawyers abroad. Michel who is lodged in Tihar jail moved the application through his advocate before special judge Arvind Kumar, who directed the jail authorities to file a response to the plea by Monday. The accused told the court that jail authorities rejected his plea seeking the permission.

Michel, who was extradited from Dubai, was arrested by the ED on December 22.
