The apex court on Monday (Jan 14) dismissed a plea challenging Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s move of hunger strike and dharna outside office of the L-G Anil Baijal last year.

The court said to the petitioner: “CM of Delhi goes on hunger strike and you want us to pass order.”

The petitioner had approached the apex court seeking guidelines against a CM engaging in such acts of outcry.

It may be noted that Kejriwal along with his cabinet colleagues Manish Shisodia, Satyendar Jain and Gopal Rai had staged a dharna and went to hunger strike outside office of the L-G in June 2018 seeking directions from L-G to the IAS officers working in the Delhi govt to end their strike, action against officers who have stuck work for four months and nod to his government’s request for doorstep delivery of ration to the poor.
