Supreme Court To Hear Plea on Bihar Children’s Deaths On Monday

The Supreme Court will hear on Monday a petition seeking immediate action to deal with the health crisis in Bihar where over 100 children have died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome in Muzaffarpur district.

The petition seeks that the apex court order the state and the Centre to set up 500 Intensive Care Units and station enough doctors and also thatr the govermment set up a team of medical experts be set up to deal with the crisis. Bihar has been struggling with an outbreak of AES since the start of June. 85 of the children have died in the state’s biggest government-run hospital – the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) and 18 others at  private clinics, PTI reported.
