Yet to receive sanction from authorities to persecute Kanhaiya Kumar and others, Delhi Police tells court

The Delhi Police on Tuesday told a Delhi Court that it is yet to receive sanction from authorities to persecute Kanhaiya Kumar and others in JNU sedition case.

The court granted time till Sep 18 to Police to obtain sanctions in the case.

The Delhi government in the last hearing on April 8 had told the court that it wanted some more time to decide on the issue of granting sanction or not to the police.

On April 5, the Delhi govt had apprised the court that the Delhi Police filed a chargesheet in the case hastily and concealment without receiving the sanction of the competent authority.

The Delhi Police filed a chargesheet against Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and seven Kashmiri students in the case on Jan 14.
