2G Spectrum Cases transferred to Special CBI Judge AK Kuhar

The Delhi High Court has transferred all cases related 2G spectrum scam pending before special judge O.P. Saini, District & Sessions Judge cum Special Judge, RACC to the court of Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar, presently presiding the Rouse Avenue Court Complex, with effect from 1st October 2019.

The 2G Spectrum cases would be in addition to the existing cases before the Special Judge who is also hearing cases pertaining to INX Media scam, and Karnataka Congress leader DK Shivakumar.

Post-December 2017, when all 17 accused were acquitted and Maran brothers discharged by Justice O.P. Saini in the alleged irregularities of 2G telecom spectrum and licences, the CBI filed a supplementary charge sheet in the Aircel Maxis case, naming P Chidambaram and Karti Chidambaram as accused in July 2018.

The Chidambarams were granted anticipatory bail in Aircel Maxis case on 5th September. Special Judge Saini adjourned the matter sine die on 6th September.

Special Judge Kuhar The Delhi High Court’s order of transfer of the pending cases comes in the light of the pending retirement of Special Judge Saini at the end of September.
