A new legal aid centre was inaugurated at the Tihar jail on Wednesday. Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjiv Khanna along with Delhi High Court’s Chief Justice Dhirubhai Naranbhai Patel inaugurated the centre.
The centre has been opened in Jail No 4.
On the inauguration, Justice Khanna lauded the efforts and said that it would help both the prisoners and their families, especially those that were not affluent.
“The mechanism of legal advice would also facilitate the legal process to move faster,” Justice Khanna observed.
Justice Khanna stated that endeavours to make a prison a centre to reform prisoners should also always be persuaded, and Tihar Jail was continuing towards this in a commendable manner, and with substantial results.
