Former Delhi High Court Judge, Hon’ble Justice SP Garg has been appointed by the Home Department of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi to conduct a judicial inquiry in the Tis Hazari clash between the lawyers and the police on November 2, 2019.
The notice, under the authority of the Judicial Commission calls for any relevant and authentic information from any person in the public, with any evidence in his possession pertaining to the incident, including audio/video recordings, call records, photographs, etc. along with his identity proof within a week from today.
The notice further welcomes people willing to depose as witness to provide relevant details within the week.
Although the notice does not give scope for anonymous tip, it says, “the information/ identity shall be kept confidential.”
The appointment comes in compliance of the Delhi High Court’s order dated 3.11.2019 in the suo moto petition of the court in the wake of violence at Tis Hazari courts complex over a parking row between a lawyer and a cop which escalated to shootings and vandalism and protests.
The notice declares that “the Judicial Inquiry so set up, is operational with effect from 15.11.2019 from Ground Floor, C- Wing, Vikas Bhawan-2 Civil Lines, near Metcalf House Delhi- 110054.”
