Shivsena-NCP-Congress Alliance moved the Supreme Court today to restrain Fadnavis-led BJP Government in Maharashtra from taking important policy decisions. It asks the court’s directions that the incumbent government can only undertake routine day to day administrative decisions, and cannot take any major policy decisions.

The application also demands a floor test within 24 hours. Filed by Adv. Sunil Fernandes, it has prayed for a stay of the operation of the order dated 25.11.2019 issued by Anti Corruption Bureau closing 9 cases in the irrigation scam of Vidarbh Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC).

The buzz started with 9 irrigation scam cases being closed soon after Ajit Pawar took oath of Deputy Chief Minister in Raj Bhawan at an early morning ceremony earlier this week.

The media reports pointed at Rs. 70,000 crores worth scam investigations in none case that were dropped.

The Anti Corruption Bureau of Maharashtra, in a press release, said that no criminal offence was made out in those 9 enquiries.

The enquiries are part of 2654 tenders for 45 projects of the VIDC.

The press release states that none of the 9 enquiries, that were dropped, relate to Ajit Pawar (the-then Chairman of VIDC).
