Rajasthan High Court was supposed to give decision in a PIL filed challenging decision to shift their home games in another city. For the edition 2020 of IPL, Rajasthan High Court has deferred hearing to March 17. It was anticipated that the High Court will give decision of Rajasthan Royals to shift their games.
It is noteworthy that on 2nd April, Royals have to play Chennai Superkings in Jaipur or Guwahati. They are also scheduled to play against Delhi Capitals on April 5, according to schedules and fictures released by IPL. Further, on April 9, Royals have to host Kolkata Knightriders in either Jaipur or Guwahati. This poses a chellenge as they prepare for the season due to uncertainty that looms over the venue for the successive matches. Royals have said that venue is being changed for various factors and not only for increasing revenue. Also the reason for shifting venue is said to be for promoting the game in Northeast region. Also there are some people of Rajasthan origin in northeast. This would provide them an opportunity to see their favourite players live in action.
The BCCI has supported Royals and clarified that rules have not been broken by this decision of Royals by requesting for a second home venue.
The official said that we are looking to working at grassroots level in Northeast and in coming times, even academics would be started there. It is planned that the game is brought to the locals there and Riyan Parag also hails from the same region. The official also said that we are positive of outcome of decision and that no sentiment should be hurt by this decision of shifting couple of games from Jaipur to Guwahati.
