The  Popular front of India, a radical Islamic outfit has filed a Curative Petition in the Supreme Court against the apex court’s 9 Nov 2019 judgement in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid Case.

Apart from seeking an open court debate, the petition also has demanded a stay the order of 9th November in which the court decided the disputed land in favour of “Ramlala.”. The petition stated, “Even though the Curative Petitioner was not a party to the LIS, the verdict passed by the Apex Court in Babri Masjid title suit adversely affects his interests. The petitioner seeks justice from this Court on the basis of concrete historical facts and evidence

The Supreme Court in its judgment of 9th November 2019 cleared the way for the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya. The Supreme Court brought down the curtains on the festering issue by giving possession of the 2.77 acre disputed land to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas with the judges agreeing that Ram Lalla Virajman (the presiding deity) was a juristic entity having right to ownership of land. The Supreme Court also decided that the Sunni Waqf Board will be given an alternate site of five acres for the construction of a mosque.

The PFI has in the past been been accused of supporting anti-national activities  and has significant presence in southern states of like Kerala and Karnataka. Three years ago, two out of ten people from Kerala who had fled to join the ISIS were reported to have been former members of this extremist organisation.
