Haryana Appoints 90 Law Officers In Office Of Advocate General

The Haryana government  has appointed 90 judicial officers in the office of its Advocate General.

The officers have been engaged on a year’s contract as Additional Advocate Generals with a monthly fee of Rs 1,80,000 plus retainers of Rs 25,000 per month, , Deputy Advocate Generals (Rs 1,28,000 p.m.) and  Assistant Advocate Generals (Rs 88,400 p.m.) for the High Court as well as Supreme Court. The list for AG office includes 22 Additional Advocate Generals, 28 Deputy Advocate Generals, 28 Assistant Advocate Generals for Chandigarh and eight Additional Advocate Generals, two Deputy Advocate Generals and two Assistant Advocate Generals for Delhi.

Around 1700 advocates had applied for the 90 posts when the Haryana government  advertised for the posts in January this year. The criteria for appointment to the three categories includes an advocate having professional income of rs 12 lakh and above for Addl. AG, Rs eight lakh for Dy AG and Rs five lakh for Assistant AG. Similarily, advocates should have at least 2, eight and five years of experience to apply for the three categories.
