On Monday, Division Bench of the Delhi HC headed by Justice Siddharth Mridul in its order directed the Central Government to get in touch with the Indian Students stranded in Bangladesh and ensure that they have access all the basic amenities and other medical necessities.
The Court was hearing a petition filed by Gaurav Kumar Bansal in which he has sought directions to the Ministry of External Affairs to evacuate Indian Medical Students who are stranded in Bangladesh. There are around 581 students stranded in Bangladesh and are mostly from Kashmir.
Delhi HC in its last order directed the Ministry of External Affairs to publish the list of nodal officers for the various locations in Bangladesh wherein Indian students could get all the necessary facilities.
The Court today enquired about the mode of connection of the students with the petitioner Mr. Bansal, on which Mr. Bansal informed the Court that he is in regular contact of the Students through his Twitter and Whatsapp.
The Bench has also instructed the Central Government to get in touch with its Nodal Officers and direct them to ensure the Stranded students are getting food and other items necessary for their wellbeing.
The matter now would be heard on 3rd April 2020.
