Karnataka High Court Extends Interim Orders Till June 5

The High Court of Karnataka has ordered extension of all its interim orders along with the interim orders passed by other subordinate courts. The interim reliefs ordered by all District Courts, family courts, Labour Courts and all other Tribunals and forums will now stand extended till June 5th 2020.

The extension has been ordered considering the all the cases in which the interim reliefs granted will expire during the lockdown.

A 21-day Nationwide lockdown was announced by Prime Minister Modi on 24th March to contain the COVID-19 outbreak in the Country, which was supposed to end by 14th April 2020. All the Courts in the country passed orders and directions extending the interim orders according to the said date. However, the Government ordered an extension of the lockdown by 3 weeks, valid will 3rd May 2020.Therefore, there are interim orders granted by various courts which may expired during the lockdown till 3rd May.

The Karnataka High Court had extended its interim orders by a month during the initial lockdown on 24th March 2020. 

Another order of extension has been passed by a division bench of the Court comprising of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Nagarathna, extending all interim orders till 5th June considering the prevailing situation. All the interim orders including the bail orders, anticipatory bail orders which will stand extended and the other orders of eviction, dispossession or demolition that will remain in abeyance till 5th June 2020.

The Court has also directed the circulation of the order of extension to all the concerned courts, Tribunals, the Bar Associations in the State, etc.
