The Bombay High Court Appellate side on Monday has issued a circular in which it exempts all Judges in subordinate Court in Maharashtra, Goa, UTs of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu from wearing black coat and gown, Subordinate courts judges and lawyers exempted to wear black coat/gown.
It was clarified in the circular that Judges of the Subordinate Courts may wear either black coat or gown while occupying the dais.
It was mentioned that the Chief Justice was pleased to exempt the Judges of the Subordinate Courts in the state of Maharashtra, State of Goa and the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu from wearing of Black Coat or Gown and the lawyers appearing before them from wearing of Black Coat till further orders.
