Kerala HC Asks Bar Council To Take A Call On Enrollment Via Video

The High Court of Kerala on Monday has sought response from the Bar Council of Kerala over the possibility of conducting enrollments via video conferencing amid COVID-19 lockdown.

A Single-Judge bench of Justice Anu Sivaraman was hearing a petition filed by Hari Krishan who has raised the grievance over the fact that Bar Council enrolment procedure is being indefinitely prolonged as the COVID 19 lockdown extended.

Justice Anu Sivaram while going through the petition inquired whether the petitioner was suggesting enrolment by video conferencing.

Advocate S Sujin appearing for the petitioner suggested that if it was possible then he would suggest that enrolment be conducted via video conferencing.

The bench then asked the Council appearing for Bar Council of Kerala, whether it is possible to conduct enrolment via video conferencing. The Counsel sought time to respond on the proposal.

The bench has listed the matter for next hearing after a week.
