Allahabad High Court asks UP govt to provide data on Anganwadis in state

The court deemed it appropriate to direct the state government to file a complete response to the petition with all necessary details relating to Anganwadis in the State of Uttar Pradesh

The Allahabad High Court recently asked the Uttar Pradesh Government how and in what ways is nutritious food being provided to children in the state under the Anganwadi project.

The order was passed by a division bench of Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice S.S. Shamsheri on a PIL filed by Nishant Chandra and 8 others.

The petition raised the important issue with regard to the implementation of Anganwadi projects including the scheme relating to nutritive food. As per the petitioners, most anganwadis in Uttar Pradesh don’t have adequate means to provide nutritive food to the children. They asserted that most of the children coming from weaker sections of society are malnourished and the anganwadis are neither having sufficient means nor the means available are properly utilized for the distribution of nutritive food.
