A petition was today filed in the Allahabad High Court challenging the Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav (consecration programme) of the idol of Ram Lalla at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, scheduled for January 22, on the grounds that it was against the Sanatan tradition.
Filed by Bhola Das of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, the petition contended that according to Hindu calendar, no religious programs could be organized in the current month of Paush.
The plea further mentioned the objections raised by four Shankaracharyas to the event and termed it a poll stunt by the BJP government before the general elections of 2024.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav of Ram Lalla will be held on January 22 at the newly-constructed temple of Lord Ram.
