A Delhi court on Wednesday extended the Anti-Corruption Bureau custody of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan to five more days.
Appearing before the Rouse Avenue Court, the ACB sought extension of 10 days custody for questioning of Amanatullah, but the court extended it for five days only.
The AAP MLA was arrested on September 16 this year by ACB in connection with the irregularities in the Waqf Board in a case related to alleged illegal appointments in the Delhi Waqf Board.
He will now be presented before the court on September 26.
As per the Bureau, Khan, while working as Chairman of Delhi Waqf Board, had illegally recruited 32 people, violating guidelines.
He was further involved in misappropriation of funds of the Delhi Waqf Board, including comprising grants in aid from Delhi Government.
As per the ACB, they had seized Rs 24 lakh and two illegal weapons from Khan’s home. The Bureau alleged that the ACB search team was attacked by relatives and supporters of Khan outside his residence.
