New Delhi: Attorney General K. K. Venugopal has declined consent to initiate contempt proceeding against actress Swara Bhaskar for her comments against the Supreme Court on social media.
Contempt petitions need the AG’s consent before the judges look at it.
This petition was filed by Usha Shetty. She has also sought the consent of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta for contempt proceeding against the actress for her remarks on the Babri Masjid demolition judgment of the Supreme Court.
The AG has made it clear that the comments do not constitute contempt.
