The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently, disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction to the respondents to do the physical verification of the agricultural land.
The PIL has been filed by Guman Singh, seeking a direction to the respondents to do the physical verification of the agricultural land and accordingly allot the patta to the agriculturists as per law and as per residency over the agricultural land.
A direction has also been prayed to undertake the whole process by proper agency/authority without being prejudiced by the forest officers in the interest of justice and also to allot patta to the innocent agriculturists who are doing agriculture on the fields and to earn their livelihood as per law.

The Petition was filed way back in the year 2013 and for the last 8 years, the same is pending and no reply has been filed by the respondents.
Considering the grievance of the petitioner and the relief claimed in the petition, the Jabalpur Division Bench comprised of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla deemed it appropriate to dispose of the Petition with a direction to the petitioner to approach the Collector, District Burhanpur, by way of representation within a period of 30 days and the Collector shall decide the same by passing a speaking order within a period of three months from the date of filing of representation of the petitioner.
