The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday granted conditional anticipatory bail to Mukhtar Ansari’s wife Afsan Ansari. The Court, while granting anticipatory bail till the Court takes cognizance of the Police report, has directed the petitioner to abide by bail conditions.
A single-judge bench of Justice Siddharth passed this order while hearing a criminal miscellaneous anticipatory bail application under Section 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure filed by Afsan Ansari.
The application was filed with a prayer to grant anticipatory bail to Afshan Ansari in the case under Sections 420, 423, 465, 467, 468, 471, 474, 477-A and 120-B IPC at Police Station Kotwali, Ghazipur district.
Senior Advocates G.S. Chaturvedi and Ajay Kumar Srivastava argued the application. Afsan Ansari is accused of illegally building a hotel on government wasteland through fake and unauthorized sale deeds. On the investigation report of the committee, the Lekhpal of Sadar Tehsil in Ghazipur Kotwali has lodged an FIR in conspiracy, fraud and other charges.
The land deed has been named after her two minor sons, Abbas Ansari and Umar Ansari. The petitioner is a mother and a natural guardian. The deed of land was made to such people, whose lease had expired and they were no longer the owners of the land.

The High Court cited the decisions of the Supreme Court saying that the petitioner is entitled to anticipatory bail. The Court has accepted bail on bond and securities of Rs 50,000.
