The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has said that a lawyer is an officer of the Court and because of a few, the profession cannot be allowed to be defamed.
The Court made this stern observation in view of pending cases against lawyers. Two advocates were arrested by the Wazirganj police on Thursday night in the case of indecency with a woman judicial officer inside the Lucknow District Court in 2017.
After the strictness of the High Court, the Lucknow Police has taken this action. According to ADCP West Chiranjeev Nath Sinha, Advocates Abhishek Singh and Etmad Hasan Idrishi have been arrested. The FIR was registered against both of them under various sections.
The High Court has observed that some organized group of lawyers appears to be indulging in other activities, including money laundering and blackmailing. Such black sheep cannot be allowed to defame the legal profession, the court said.

The High Court has asked the Commissioner of Police, Lucknow to file an affidavit and tell how many criminal cases are there against the said lawyers and their status. If the final report has been filed under any pressure, then they should be reopened and the investigation should be carried forward.
The High Court has also sought a report from the District Judge on the number of cases registered against the two lawyers and their status.
