Allahabad HC asks SDM to revisit decision to mark primary school teachers for BLO duty

The Allahabad High Court has asked the SDM Kasganj to take a fresh decision within two months on imposing Booth Level Officer (BLO) duty on primary school teachers during elections.

This order has been given by Justice Yashwant Verma on hearing the petition filed by Samita Maheshwari and many others through Advocate Agitahotri Kumar Tripathi.

SDM Kasganj has imposed BLO duty on the petitioner in a local election, while the High Court has said in the case of Uttar Pradesh Territorial Teachers Association Banda that BLO duty cannot be imposed on primary teachers. Doing so is a violation of the Right to Education Act.

The Government Advocate said that in the light of the decision of the SDM High Court, it will take a decision by reconsidering its order in two months.
