The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday pulled up the Uttar Pradesh government to file its reply on a Public Interest Litigation which demands a 20-bedded hospital in the Court premises.

A division bench of Justices B K Narain and Rohit Ranjan Agarwal has passed the aforesaid order after hearing the PIL filled by Advocate Mamta Singh.

It was submitted that on November 7, 2018, Advocate Amulya Rayna died due to heart attack while he was arguing in the court. The petition also informed the court that two more advocates died due to lack of medical amenities within the court premises.

The PIL further pointed out that in the 150 years old High Court, there is no adequate medical facility for the Advocates and employees. There are about 18,000 advocates, about 5,000 clerks of advocates and thousands of employees in the court. But surprisingly, there is only one dispensary which is insufficient to meet the requirements and hence not acceptable.

The Court has fixed December 13, 2019 as the next date of hearing.
