The Allahabad High Court has sought a response from the state government in six weeks on the bail application of former MLA Mukhtar Ansari Ansari, who has been in jail since October 25, 2005, under the Gangster Act.
A Single Bench of Justice Rahul Chaturvedi passed this order while hearing a Criminal Misc Bail Application filed by Mukhtar Ansari.
The bail application is on behalf of Mokhtar Ansari, who is facing prosecution in Case under section 3(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Gangster & Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, Police Station-Dakshin Tola, District Mau. He has been in judicial confinement since 25.10.2005 in other cases and in the case, B-Warrant has been served upon him on 13.4.2021.

“Applicant is facing number of serious accusations against him including the murder, dacoity and other henious offences, under the circumstances, let the A.G.A file counter affidavit within a period of six weeks. Two week thereafter is granted to file a rejoinder affidavit. List thereafter”
