The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation seeking direction to the Nagar Nigam, Lucknow to cull stray dogs and vermin in the city of Lucknow.
The Division Bench of Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Subhash Vidyarthi passed this order while hearing a PIL filed by Advocate Manoj Kumar Dubey.
The petition sought issuance of a direction to the Nagar Nigam, Lucknow to discharge the duty of killing stray dogs, other animals and birds causing nuisance in Lucknow.
Such a direction cannot be issued by the Court as there is no provision which obliges the Nagar Nigam to kill innocent animals, the Court said.
In view of the above, the Court dismissed the petition.
