Allahabad High Court gives permission to complete appointment of 264 super specialist doctors in UP

264 specialist doctors will be posted in super specialty institutes of Uttar Pradesh. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has given permission to complete their appointment process on the basis of counselling at 264 places mentioned by the state government.

The Division Bench of Justice Attau Rahman Masoodi and Justice Om Prakash Shukla passed this order while hearing a petition filed by Dr Ankit Gupta and Others.

Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary of U.P Civil Secretariat, Lucknow was present in the Court.

Alok Kumar informed the Court that the petitioners are super specialists in the medical field. On completion of their super-speciality course, they are to be allotted the places which have been identified in the State Medical Universities, the State Medical Colleges and the Super Specialist Institutions functioning within the State of U.P The total number of such places commensurate to the education and expertise of the petitioners is 264.

The details of these 264 places shall be made known to the respective candidates before holding the counseling scheduled on 15th and 16th of November, 2022. The petitioners and all similarly situated persons are at liberty to participate in the counseling so that the purpose of signing the bond is served in the true spirit of the policy under which the government order was issued.

The Court said that the identification of the respective places commensurate with the standard of super-speciality course and for maintaining the dignity of the medical professionals, we have no reason to believe that there shall be any sub-standard treatment by the State.

Therefore, the Court permitted the department of Medical Education to finalize the process of allotment based on the counseling scheduled on the respective dates mentioned above.

The officer present has also clarified that the designation of the petitioners during the period of service shall not be less than of an Assistant Professor, the court noted

“We hope and trust that necessary exercise shall be completed without fail so that there is no scope for any complaint by the petitioner in this regard”, the Court said while disposing the petition.
