The Allahabad High Court has sought a personal affidavit from the District Magistrate on the PIL filed to investigate the transfer of a huge amount of development work to the bank account of the husband of the Block Pramukh in Shahganj block of Jaunpur.
The Division Bench of Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Vinod Diwakar passed this order while hearing a PIL filed by Rajesh Kumar.
Serious allegations are made in the PIL petition against the Block Pramukh and various annexures are enclosed along with petition to show that the payments made to private enterprises for developmental work are being partially credited to the account of the husband of the Block Pramukh later.
It is submitted that the developmental money meant for developmental work is being siphoned off by the Block Pramukh and despite repeated approaches to the authorities, no action is being taken.
In the facts of the case, the Court called upon the Standing Counsel to obtain specific instructions from the District Magistrate, Jaunpur about the allegations made in the petition. The District Magistrate shall file his personal affidavit clarifying facts as have been pleaded in the petition.
The Court said that in the event any substance is found in the allegations made in the writ petition, the authorities shall take appropriate action, as may be warranted in law in the matter.
The Court has fixed the next hearing of the petition on May 30, 2023.
