The Supreme Court Advocate-On-Record Association has written a letter to the Secretary General of the Supreme Court of India to allow newly qualified AORs to comply the process of applications/ formalities by mode of E-Filing, to save them from waiting during this lockdown period due to the outbreak of the pandemic Novel Corona Virus COVID-19.
The letter mentions that the results of the Advocate on Record examination held in June 2019 was announced on 23rd March, 2020, and 230 advocates have passed the said examination. The newly qualified AORs have been waiting for the formalities to be completed, ever since the results.
Due to the prevailing circumstances of the lockdown due to the outbreak of the pandemic Novel Corona Virus- COVID -19, the formalities which is to be done with the newly qualified AORs are pending.
Therefore, SCAORA made a request in the letter to consider the matter and enable the newly qualified AORs to comply the process of applications/formalities by mode of e-filing, to save them from waiting during this unprecedented time and on compliance with the formalities through E-filing.
Its further urged, on compliance of the formalities vide e-filing, the Hon’ble CJI may be requested to please constitute the Hon’ble Chamber Judge as per rules and complete the requisite formalities and further that as the numbers are large, the newly qualified Advocates on Record may be considered to be exempted from their personal/virtual appearance.
