BJP leader Jayaprada suffered a major jolt on Friday when her plea challenging the election of Azam Khan from the Rampur parliamentary constituency was dismissed by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court.
A bench comprising Justice Ranjan Roy and Justice N K Jauhari dismissed the plea saying since “Rampur falls under the jurisdiction of the Allahabad High Court therefore Lucknow bench can’t adjudicate due to lack of territorial jurisdiction”.
The bench further cited another reason for the non-maintainability of the plea and said that only an election petition can be moved in such a scenario.
