The Central government has finally notified the appointment of Justice Sabina as the acting Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, effective from January 21.
The appointment of Justice Sabina’s will come into effect following the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice Amjad Ahtesham Sayed.
The Union Ministry of Law and Justice on Friday published the notification to this effect.
The notification read that while exercising the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Smt. Justice Sabina, senior-most Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, for performing the duties of the office of the uChief Justice of that High Court, with effect from 21.01.2023 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Amjad Ahtesham Sayed, Chief Justice, Himachal Pradesh High Court.
At present ,Justice Sabina is the senior-most judge at the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
For Justice Sabina,this shall be her second term as an acting Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. She held this post in the year 2022.
Justice Sabina who was born on April 20, 1961 was selected as the Joint Secretary of Bar Association of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the year 1986.
Post which, she joined as an Additional District Judge in the year 1997 and subsequently became the Sessions Judge in the year 2004.
Justice Sabina was elevated as an additional judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court in the year 2008 and was made a permanent judge of the High Court in the year 2010.
Justice Sabina was transferred to the Rajasthan High Court in the year 2016, where she worked for five years.
in the year 2021, she finally took oath as the judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
In May 2022, Justice Sabina was appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court on the retirement of the then Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq.
