The Allahabad High Court has suspended Additional District Judge I (ADJ) Manoj Shukla of the Sultanpur District Court for his protest over his ancestral land in Basti district being taken over by the state government.
During the digging of a canal in Chhapia Shukla village of Haraiya police station area of Basti district, ADJ Manoj Shukla had lain in front of the JCB in protest against the digging work. The video of the judicial officer’s protest has also gone viral.
Taking cognisance of ADJ Shukla’s conduct, the High Court Administrative Committee decided to suspend him and the order has been dispatched to Sultanpur District Court.

Reports said ADJ Shukla lay on the ground without eating or drinking in front of the district administration team the whole night. He said,
“I am a judicial officer, this is my ancestral land. Our land is being encroached upon by all the people, this work is wrong. The acquisition of land is against the rules and the order given by the District Magistrate is due to corruption.”
Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had tweeted about him lying down and commented on the Yogi Adityanath government, saying if this can happen to a judicial officer, then imagine what can happen to the general public.
