The Bombay High Court has allowed animal slaughter during the festival of Bakri Eid on June 7, 2025, and during the Urs from June 8 to 12, 2025.

The Division Bench of Justice Neela Gokhale and Justice Firdosh P Pooniwalla passed the order on Tuesday on an interim application filed by Hajrat Peer Malik Rehan Mira Saheb Dargah, Vishalgad, seeking permission for animal slaughter during the festival of Bakri Eid and the Urs.

Referring to the June 14, 2024 verdict in Hajrat Peer Malik Rehan Mira Saheb Dargah vs State of Maharashtra, 2024, wherein the slaughter of animals was permitted in 2024, at least for the festival of Bakri Eid and the Urs, the High Court held that the permission was applicable to the applicant and its devotees.

The Division Bench clarified that the conditions imposed in the order on June 14, 2024 would also apply to 2025 and must be strictly complied with.
