The Bombay High Court recently issued notice on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging financial irregularities by the Sarpanch, Upsarpanch and Secretary of Gram Panchayat Mahagaon (Kasba).
The PIL has been filed by Anil Subhash Darekar and other. The grievance of the petitioners is that on a complaint made against Sarpanch, Upsarpanch and Secretary of Gram Panchayat Mahagaon (Kasba), an inquiry was made and it was found that these officials had indulged in financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 19,900.
It was further found that the loss was required to be calculated as regards the other works and yet, no action is being taken by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer who has already received the report.
While considering the PIL, the Division Bench of Justices Sunil B. Shukre and Anil L. Pansare granted leave to add Sarpanch, Upsarpanch and Secretary of Gram Manchayat Mahagaon (Kasba) as party respondents.
“After the necessary amendment to the cause title is carried out, notice be issued to all the respondents including newly added respondents,”
