The Calcutta High Court directed the District Magistrate, Murshidabad to duly consider the petitioner’s representation regarding the construction of the health centre at Pulia village instead of Godapara.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the residents of Pulia village raising the grievance that a new health centre is being constructed in Burwan Block at Godapara village whereas in the village Pulia the adequate medical facilities are not available.
It is the stand of the counsel for the State that the policy decision was taken to construct the health centre at Godapara village. However, the issue still remains, if the proper health facilities can be extended to the residents of village Pulia.
It has been pointed out that the petitioner’s representation dated 25th January, 2023 in this regard is already pending before the respondent no.3 (District Magistrate, Murshidabad) but the same is confined to limited issue.
Therefore, the Court granted liberty to the petitioner to file fresh representation before respondent no.3 who decided the same within a period of three months from the date of receipt of representation.
