The Chhattisgarh High Court recently disposed of a suo motu Public Interest Litigation (PIL), taking cognizance of two reports in local newspapers highlighting the pathetic condition of roads adjacent to Bilaspur Railway Station and the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the allowance of goods trains on Platform No 1.

The court took suo motu cognizance of the news items and directed the Divisional Railway Manager, South East Central Railway, Bilaspur, to file a personal affidavit in the matter.

In response, the Divisional Railway Manager filed an affidavit stating that the estimates for the repair of the roads had been made and tenders had been awarded to the concerned contractor.
