Chhattisgarh High Court issues PIL against stoppage of passenger train in Mahendragarh

The Chhattisgarh High Court issued notice on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed alleging that Passenger Train did not stop at Manendragarh, which is the biggest township in between Anuppur and Chirimiri.

The PIL has been filed by  Bhagwat Prasad Kesharwani & Others.
The case of the petitioners, in short, is that prior to Covid-19 pandemic, Passenger Train  which ran between Anuppur-Chirmiri-Anuppur, had stoppage at 9 stations excluding Anuppur and Chirmiri. After Covid-19, Passenger Special Train in between Chirimiri and Anuppur was introduced with stoppages at only two stations i.e. Bijuri and Kotma.
It is pleaded that earlier, the train used to stop at Manendragarh, which is the biggest township in between Anuppur and Chirimiri and which is also the District Headquarter of District Manendragarh-Chirimiri-Bharatpur. It is also pleaded that despite requests being made by respondent  recommending stoppage at Manendragarh, no action has yet been   taken.
While considering the PIL the Division Bench of Chief Justice  Arup Kumar Goswami and Justice  Radhakishan Agrawal  issued notice to the respondents.
