The arrested law student, who was sent to judicial custody for 14 days on charges of extortion of Swami Chinmayanand applied for regular bail before the Shahjahanpur District and Sessions Judge today. Court has posted the hearing for 30th September.

The law student who allegedly tried to extort money against the Swami’s unholy acts, had previously filed anticipatory bail application before the District Court which was due for hearing today. Prior to that, her application in the Allahabad High Court was dismissed as the Court asked her to approach an appropriate Bench. Her arrest yesterday made the application in the District Court infructuous.

“We have enough evidences that Rs. 5 crore extortion money was demanded from Chinmayanand. Those arrested said that they sent messages to Chinmayanand on directions of the girl in panic as they were not getting money and were upset,” Inspector General Naveen Arora, heading the Special Investigation Team had said earlier.

With regard to the rape case against the Swami, Allahabad High Court has directed the SIT to submit its next report on 22nd October.

Meanwhile, post the confession of Chinmayanand to everything, BJP put out a statement that the 72-year old politician is not a BJP member anymore.
