CJI BR Gavai hospitalised in Delhi after contracting severe infection in Telangana

Chief Justice of India BR Gavai, who contracted a severe infection during his recent visit to Telangana, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi.

Sources said the CJI was responding well to the treatment and was expected to be discharged soon. He would resume duties in a day or two, they added.

Details about the infection were yet not known.

The CJI did not hold the court on Monday following the conclusion of partial working days.

On July 11, CJI Gavai addressed the 22nd Convocation of Nalsar University of Law in Hyderabad. On July 12, he released a special postal cover called ‘Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar – Constituent Assembly – Constitution of India’, along with a set of picture postcards on ‘Art & Calligraphy in the Constitution of India’.

Delivering the convocation address at Nalsar University, CJI Gavai said core subjects like the Constitution, the Code of Civil Procedure, the Contract Act, criminal laws and others were the daily bread & butter for a lawyer, which formed the bedrock of a sound professional life.
