The Allahabad High Court has ordered the checking of the CCTV footage of the Police Recruitment Board on the appeal of the candidate of Constable Recruitment-2015.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice J.J. Munir passed this order while hearing a Special Appeal filed by Ravi Pratap Bhardwaj.
This is the third round of litigation. With reference to measurement of height of the petitioner for recruitment to the post of Constable, on each occasion, his height was found as 167.5 cm, though the minimum required height is 168 cm.
The counsel for the appellant submitted that even at this time, the height of the petitioner was about 168 cm. However, it was recorded as 167.5 cm.
He further submitted that the entire process of medical examination of candidates is videographed. In case video recording is examined, the truth can be found out that the height of the petitioner was 168 cm.
To find out the truth, as the appellant had been approaching the Court time and again, the Court directed the Commissioner of Police, Lucknow to examine the video recording of the medical examination of the appellant for measurement of his height and submit an affidavit to this Court as to whether it was found to be 167.5 cm or 168 cm. The respondent no 3 is directed to supply relevant portions of the video recording to the Commissioner of Police within three weeks.
“As this is third round of litigation, the appellant shall deposit a sum of Rs 20,000 with the Registrar (Judicial) of the Court up to July 19, 2022 to defray the cost to be paid to be respondents, in case the stand taken by him in the petition is found to be wrong,” the order reads.
The Court has listed the next hearing of the petition on August 30, 2022.
