A Delhi court has extended wrestler Sushil Kumar’s judicial custody till July 9 in connection with the Sagar Dhankar murder case. The two-time Olympic medallist has been shifted from Mandoli jail to Tihar.
Sushil Kumar was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Mayank Aggarwal at the end of his 14-day judicial custody. Kumar is facing charges of murder, culpable homicide, and kidnapping.
Earlier, a Delhi court had dismissed his plea for special food in prison including health supplements containing protein, Omega-3 capsules, jointment capsules, Pre-workout C4, Hyde, Multivitamin GNC and exercise bands as he wanted to continue his career in wrestling.
Kumar, along with his associates, allegedly assaulted Sagar Dhankar and two of his friends at the stadium on the intervening night of May 4 and 5 over an alleged property dispute. Dhankar, 23, succumbed to the injuries later.
Kumar was caught on May 23 along with co-accused Ajay Kumar Sehrawat. On May 29, Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Mayank Goyal had remanded Kumar and his associate Ajay Kumar to 4 days police custody.
A total 10 people have been arrested so far in connection with the incident. Earlier, on behalf of Sushil Kumar, the jail administration was told that his life was under threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi-Kala Jathedi gang.
